Jumping on the bandwagon
I have been reading several blogs these days in which everyone writes about their “favorites”. Songs, websites, shows, etc. So I am jumping on that bandwagon and sharing some of my favorites with you all. I figure I have a lot to be thankful for so…
I will start with my new favorite recording artist and my favorite song. Colbie Caillat and her song Bubbly. As soon as I heard it, I was hooked. We used it this year in our family video. I know the song is meant to be a long song, but I sing it to my three little darlings all the time. It really sums up how I feel as a mom sometimes.

Baby Talk
If you have children then you can appreciate how cute baby talk can be. All the funny sounds, babbles, spitting noises and giggles are so cute for a person isn’t walking. I remember when my first baby made all those adorable sounds; i would actually turn the radio off in my car and just listen to her make noise. When they start to put sounds together to make words it is a little like trying to decipher a secret code. Like most kids out there, my little boy said “daddy” first. “ma ma” only comes out when he is sleepy and whiney. He does have a few more words in his repertoire. “Stuck”, “Chee” (cheese), “cra cra” (cracker) and “ba ba” (bottle). As you can see most of his words deal with food and drink. If you saw my little chunky monkey you wouldn’t be surprised.

Politics for moms
I have discovered a new blog for moms that deals with issues in politics. I have been following it for a couple of days and it has some great updates. She writes …
“What I have noticed, though, is that moms tend to “check out” of discussions on politics and elections because, frankly, we’ve got better things to do. It may not be as leader of the free world but our mounds of laundry, dirty diapers and desperate need for a good night’s sleep are about all we care about in the early years of having kids. “
“Politics for Moms is intended to help moms simply and quickly understand the issues and the candidates. It will be a place where moms can ask questions, hear other moms’ opinions, and get the information they need to make their own informed decisions. “
Michael talked about Politics in church on Sunday and at my journey group we discussed the issue of voting. We concluded that we have be responsible individuals and take the privilege of voting seriously. We can’t rely on our parents, spouses, the party we are a part of, a religious group, the media or any other voice out there when it comes to making the decision of who to vote for.
So check out this site and do your own research this year, and get out there and VOTE.

What do white mice and chick-fil-a have in common?
Well, Michael is out of town and me and the kids wanted to get out of the house for a while. Thinking of entertainment for 3 kids for free or almost free is quite difficult. The result was a trip to the PetCo in Acworth to look at the animals and dinner at the Chick-fil-a (which has an indoor playground). The miniature white mice who ran circles on the wheel were the big hit of the evening. It was no petting zoo, but the kids saw, birds, fish, hamsters, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, an assortment of reptiles and amphibians and a few cats up for adoption. After an hour at the playground Lauren says to me, “Mom, this was the best night ever!” It just goes to show you that it isn’t always the most expensive events that make them happy. I hope they never ask to have mice for pets!

Superbowl XLII
I am not a big fan of football. I really don’t keep up with any stats, players or specific team. As far as college ball, I didn’t go to a university with a football program so my allegience lies with my childhood favorite, Florida Gators. (my husband went to FSU so you can imagine how that goes!) Anyway, I am from Jacksonville, so I route for the Jags when they play, but really when it comes down to it, I like the Superbowl for the parties and the great commercials. So I will probably pick a team based on who is winning and who looks good!
Any Superbowl parties out there that are kid-friendly?

Seattle, here we come
I am so excited! Michael and I are taking a trip to Seattle, WA. Neither one of us has ever been. The last few days we have been searching the internet to find the best deals on hotels, flights and rental cars. We have some sky miles to redeem and some bonus travel credits on Discover Card, so we are able to save some money. Yahoo! I am beginning to read up on our new destination so if anyone out there has some advice about visiting Seattle, let me know.
We are glad to get away for a bit, and we are really glad that we are meeting a church planter over there. He and his family are going to show us around and share their church plant story with us. I think they want to pick Michael’s brain a bit. I just love being (the wife of) a church planter.

Kid’s Consignment
Recently a friend of mine emailed me about a huge consignment sale in Marietta. I had never heard of it but apparently thousands of other moms know about it and go to it every year. All 4 Kids is happening soon. I plan to shop, sell some items and advertise my business there. Check out the website for more info. I just love a good deal.

Date Night with my Sweetie
If anyone reads my husband’s blog, he has already shared our new ritual. But let me give my version. About 3 weeks ago, my husband came in from a run and said he had a great plan for how we could have a date night each week without the costs of a babysitter. You see, we had just finished going over our budget for the year and we didn’t allot much money to the entertainment catagory. Which to me means, fewer dates. Babysitters costs a lot! Anyway, his plan was for us to pick one night each week and prepare a meal together after the kids were in bed. So, for the past two weeks, we have picked out some great recipes, cooked the meals and had our “date” at the kitchen table. I really have enjoyed it. I look forward to it every week now. I encourage anyone else to try it. We really have a good time.

Well, I’m not dead
Hello to anyone who actually reads my blog. I have been absent for a while, but I have been saving up some great things to write about. Our lives are probably no crazier than most of yours, but getting on the computer without a toddler on my lap is rare these days. Most of the time I start to write, I think, “does anyone actually care about this?”. I usually answer “no” to myself and then I get called away to handle another “crisis” in the house. Boy and am I glad that God is not like that. He never takes a break from listening to us and His Word never takes a break from speaking to us. No matter what we are going through or how trivial we may feel our lives are, He cares. He cares when I have a hard day with my 2 year old; He cares when my 6 year old is upset becuase of what someone on the bus said to her; He cares when my husband and I argue and I get my feelings hurt. He cares. I can rest on that every day.
So anyway, hopefully I’m back for now.
